We finally get to share this awesome engagement story from one of our lovely customers, Gordon and Kelly. Theirs is super sweet modern-day fairytale and just melts your heart.

Gordon and Kelly’s engagement story

Q. Before we jump into the engagement, how did the two of you meet?

Kelly - We met online. I decided to try one of those online dating apps and his profile intrigued me right away.

Gordon - When I got a notification that someone had swiped, I popped on to see who it was. We started messaging back and forth right there.

Kelly - (Laughing) I sent his profile to a couple of my friends and they we all in favor too. He was quite sweet in his messages. 

Q. So, when did you go on your first date and where? 

Gordon - I asked her out 2 weeks after we were messaging back and forth.

Kelly - I was still a bit hesitant about going out with someone I met on the internet – even though he seemed so nice – so I suggested a café in a really busy mall.

Gordon -We hit it off. We couldn’t stop talking and laughing. Plus, we found out that our families are so much alike. 

Q. Gordon, when did you know you were going to propose?

Gordon - Three months into dating I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Kelly - I was just always happy to be around her. She was ambitious and also so very supportive of my goals. 

Q. How did you go about choosing when and where to propose? 

Gordon - I decided that I’d propose on our 1-year anniversary. Of our first date that is. 

Kelly -  I had no idea he was going to propose. I just knew we were celebrating reaching that milestone, but I didn’t know he would have asked me that day.

Gordon - We had a late lunch at the café where we had our first date. Then we went to the pier to have ice cream. 

Kelly -  We were strolling along the pier when Gordon stopped holding my hand. I turned around and there he was on his knee with the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen asking me to marry him. I burst into tears. 

Gordon- She didn’t answer right away so I had to ask a second time (laughs) 

Kelly - You caught me off guard (laughs) 

Q. What type of ring did you choose?

Gordon - I knew I wanted a custom ring. A friend told me about the Bashford Jewelry website and that I can request a custom design there. 

So, I read through the process and then started building my ring. Didn’t understand a thing about settings but I figured it out. 

Kelly -  The ring was gorgeous. I love that it is conflict-free diamond too! After he proposed he told me that each diamonds represented something unique that he loved about me. I couldn’t stop crying when he was through.
