We’re here to help you tell a better forever story...

Our mission.

It starts with giving you 100% confidence that the handcrafted jewelry we create for you is exactly what you want, ethically sourced and made with the environment in mind.

Our history.

Founded in 2013 by a third-generation jeweler, Bashford Jewelry is our passion and our livelihood. It’s how we connect to our community, how we serve others, how we live out our values, and how we give back to causes dear to us.

We want to do better.

With years of experience in the jewelry business, we’ve seen the industry at its worst: child laborers, underpaid workers forced to dig in horrific conditions, and gems and precious metals mined with no thought for the protection of our natural resources. So we created Bashford Jewelry because we know we can do better — delighting customers while treating workers well, and minimizing the environmental impact.

Our promise to you.

Unlike most jewelry brands, we’re a family-owned and operated business. We see your first experience with us as the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Many of our early engagement ring customers are now returning for their anniversary gifts.

Our goal is to have you fall in love with everything we create for you. Let our story be part of your forever story.

We’ve got (really) high standards.

In keeping with our values of integrity and transparency, we go well beyond accepted standards in sourcing all of our materials, particularly diamonds. We use recycled precious metals (indistinguishable from newly refined metals) and track gems all the way to the source to ensure that they are ethically mined, shaped and polished. Simply put: Jewelry is in our blood but there’s no blood in our jewelry.

It’s all in the details, baby.

We know that behind each piece of jewelry lies a unique story that deserves our utmost creativity and attention to detail. We lovingly design and produce all of our jewelry from our studio in Seattle, Washington. We treat our employees like family and hold ourselves to the strictest environmental standards in our production process.

Meet our lovely founders.

Mildred Oriza-Stephens / Founder, Jewelry Designer

A third-generation jeweler, Mildred was born and raised in the Philippines. Her parents immigrated to the United States in search of greaterA opportunity. Determined to achieve the American dream, they worked tirelessly for years. For Mildred, their work ethic became a lifelong lesson.

Mildred’s experiences left her focused on family, community, the environment and creating opportunity — values that underpinned the founding of Bashford Jewelry in 2013. Today, Mildred oversees operations at Bashford from the company’s base in Seattle. She picks her craftsmen as carefully as she does her gemstones. She recognizes that the path to an enduring, honest business is paved with sustainability, equal parts craftsmanship and artistry, and unsurpassed service from first click to delivery.

Neil Stephens / Director of Business Operations

An Englishman, Neil also came to America in search of opportunity, though his tools were more jabs and hooks than scopes and gem-setting pliers. At one point, Neil was a world-ranked professional boxer, training in Atlanta and fighting all over the country. After boxing toggled him between continents for much of the 1990s, Neil emigrated from England for good in 2000. He retired from professional boxing in 2006.

Neil then owned and operated his own personal training business in Hollywood then Seattle. This is where Neil and Mildred met, fell in love and Bashford jewelry began. His entrepreneurial leanings, service mentality and natural curiosity make him the perfect complement to Mildred’s operational savvy as they serve customers at Bashford.
